Valerie S. Williams was born January 1st, 1983 in Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina. Due to her father being in the military, her family was stationed at Fort Bragg, NC when she was about 4 years old. A few years later, her father got out the military and they moved into the city of Fayetteville, NC where they permanently made their home. Valerie sparked an interest in acting when she was 10 years old. She acted in plays at her church and wrote small plays in her journal in which she would imagine herself in those roles.
One Sunday at church she read outloud a poem by Maya Angelou and received a great standing ovation. From that day on, she knew it was meant for her to become an actress. Valerie's parents were not in a position to enroll her in acting classes so she took drama classes in both middle and high school. Valerie was also apart of the track team during both middle and high school and was one of the fastest runners on the team. She knew she could have a career as a professional track runner but her heart was set on being an actress. After she graduated from high school, she attended Fayetteville State University where she studied Speech and Theatre with a minor in Sociology. She also enrolled in an acting class off campus in which she attended at night. Also at that time, Valerie grew a strong passion for fashion. The idea of a clothing line was added to her list. She received her Bachelors degree in Speech-Theatre in May of 2005.
After she graduated from college, the following month she moved to Myrtle Beach, SC where she unexpectedly starting modeling. The opportunity came one day when she was in a bookstore and a photographer asked her would she be interested in taking some photos. A photo shoot was set up and from that day on she received many other photo shoots from different photographers. She also started taking a course in fashion merchandising in which she obtained a career diploma in 2007. In Juy of 2006, Valerie then moved to Charleston, SC where she began doing promotional modeling for various brandnames and she also became a recurring extra in the Lifetime tv show "Army Wives". In September of 2008, Valerie formed her own company called Shantal Fashions LLC and began the process of creating her first perfume.
She partnered with a Florida manufacturer and Chosen was launched on January 1st, 2009. Valerie is now in the process of launching her first fashion line, Valerie Shantal during 2010. Valerie is currently married to her husband Marsha Williams and resides in Baltimore, Maryland.
